Since the inauguration of the board members of Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria in July 2017 by the Honourable minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung, the Prince Kelvin Ehizogie led board has neither organise a national event for athletes nor training for the coaches, www.bsnsports.com.ng reports.
Tony Asuquo an international Federation of Gymnastics certified coach and a member of the board has stated unequivocally the reason the Federation has done nothing or little over a year in office.
Asuquo whose gymnastics club TIG won 10 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals in the Junior Olympics level competition in South Africa said that the President of the Federation, Prince Kelvin Ehizogie brought in people who are not expertise into the board which led to division among the board. He added that the president did not allow some of the board members especially himself to perform their duties.
He urged the president to bring all the board members together and allow each members to perform their duties.
"I have not been allowed to do my job, reason why the Federation has not done much this year. I have not for the federation because I am not given opportunity and responsibility to carry out the job I know how to do."
"If the board can come together, up their games and do the right thing, we are not going to be only compete with best gymnastics countries in the world but creating records."
"We have the talents here in Nigeria that can win any tournament." He concluded.
