Former Akwa United coach, Abdul Maikaba has provided the real reason why he dumped Akwa United for former NPFL champions Plateau United.
Speaking with www.bsnsports.com.ng after Flying Eagles training in Abuja, the soft-spoken coach said the need to get closer to his family whom he loves so much prompted the move.
The Flying Eagles assistant coach denied the rumours flying around that money influenced his move to Plateau United.
"No, my move to Plateau United from Akwa United was not influenced by money, at this stage, there is need for me to get closer to my family who are based in the North. If you're a family man you will understand when your work keep you away from your family for more than three months."
He however, promised to bring smiles back to the faces of Plateau United supporters by during his three at the club.
Maikaba targets winning double (NPFL and Aiteo Cup titles) for Plateau this season and also set his eyes on taking them back to the continent soon.
"The fans should expect nothing but the best, we have set a target of winning double for the club. In the second season we hope to return them back to the continent."
