why I Resigned From Niger Tornadoes - Bernard Ogbe
By Sampson Adedeji
Former Niger Tornadoes coach, Bernard Ogbe said some powerful individuals within the club thwarted his efforts which led to his resignation, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Ogbe who resigned a few weeks ago stated that there was a gang up against him which promoted to the bad results recorded by Ikon Allah Boys during his reign as the coach.
He went further to unequivocally state that miscreants were sponsored to drag the team down. "Sadly, we lost the support of the fans due to continuous bad results." He said shaking his head.
In his words, "It all started after the team recorded good results from four different friendly matches played before the season commenced.
" When the new season began, I discovered that the atmosphere is not conducive. They went as far as sponsoring miscreant to distract and drag us back which led to losing the kind of home support the team deserves, " Ogbe said.
"During the pre-season in Kano, we played four matches we scored 11 goals and conceded just two.
" The last test run match was against National U20 team in Abuja and we were forced to a draw.
"From all indications, we have a good team going into a new season but conspiracy frustrated our efforts. I discovered that some of my colleagues do not want me to succeed.
" I have to resign when I discovered that thugs were sponsored to mar our efforts, then I knew I can't perform any magic to turn the situation around.
You will recall that I was given 5 matches ultimatum but I discovered that there is no need to wait any longer, " he concluded.
Tornadoes recorded a remarkable away 2-2 draw with Katsina United in their last NPFL match under Bernard Ogbe.
