Why I Travelled To London With NFF - Dalung

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung has said that he was in London on Thursday in the interest of football, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Dalung who travelled to London yesterday added that his travelling with NFF bigwigs was strictly for Nike meeting in London.

Speaking exclusively with www.BSNsports.com.ng, Dalung debunked insinuations making round that his visit to London with NFF leadership was to compromise his stand on accountability and good leadership in the football house

"I don’t need to sacrifice the football brand which people like Ernest Okonkwo and others struggled to build in this country because we have bad leadership today.

"My visit to London was in the best interest of Nigeria football. Nike refused to sign certain contracts with the NFF over the N1.6 billion World Cup money the federation have not accounted for. While we await their report on the fund, it will be an act of irresponsibility to throw away the baby and the bathing water. We will protect and promote our football. We need our football to grow. NFF will account for the N1.6 billion World Cup fund. We have not changed ground and we will not change our stand," the minister said.

Solomon Dalung, with President of the Nigeria Football Federation and 1st Vice President of CAF, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick and NFF 2nd Vice President/LMC Chairman and Member of FIFA Football Stakeholders Committee, Shehu Dikko attended the first of the meetings on Thursday evening at the NIKE UK office in London.
