Why I Was removed As Super Falcons' Captain - Oparanozie Reveals

Former Super Falcons captain, Desire Oparanozie has finally broke silence on why she was removed as the Super Falcons captain after the world cup.

Reflecting on her brief captaincy of the Falcons, Oparanozie suggested she had a run in with the top brass of the Nigeria Football Federation.

She said Nigeria Football Federation's chieftains don’t like to be confronted when players have genuine concerns that should be addressed.

Oparanozie insists the period in question had taught her some very valuable lessons, but does not rule out the chance of returning to the team in the future.

Oparanozie who was the captain of the Super Falcons to the FIFA World Cup in France in 2019 was removed shortly after the tournament. It was rumoured that her removal was not unconnected for Falcons' refusal to leave their hotel after their exit at the world cup. Super Falcons insisted that they will not leave their hotel unless they were paid their entitlements owed by the NFF, the act which embarrassed Nigeria before the world.

The coach, Thomas Dennerby also left Nigeria for his country, Sweden after the world cup.
