Why Nigeria Was Given 2019 Nations Cup Hosting Rights - NCF President By Niyi Busari President, Cycling Federation of Nigeria Eng. Giandomenico Massar has attributed the hosting of Track Cycling African Nations Cup by Nigeria to excellent results recorded by Nigerian cyclists and world-class infrastructure in Nigeria. Speaking with www.bsnsports.com.ng in his office in Abuja, he said that Nigeria surprised the whole world in South Africa where they won 2 gold and 5 silver medals. "Only recently, two Nigeria cyclists , Gladys Tombrakpa and Mary Samuel shocked Cycling enthusiasts winning seven medals between them at an elite championship held in South Africa." He told Basic Sports in Nigeria. Among other responsibilities, the CFN President said the Federation will cater for accommodation, feeding, transportation and sundry technical and medical support to participants. "Nigeria edged other African countries to host and organize the maiden African Cup edition for track cycling due to the country athletes' performance in recent competitions and the facilities." He added that the aim of the Federation is to host and emerge overall winner at the end if the competition in Abuja, Nigeria. The agreement to host the African Nations Cup was signed last weekend in Rome , Italy by President of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria , Engr. Giandomenico Massari and President of African Cycling Confederation (CAC) Dr Mohammed Azzam coincided with the joint Confederation of Africa Cycling and EU Cycling congress, and in the presence of Mr David Lappartient, President of the International Cycling Union ( UCI) Mr Renato Di Rocco President Italian Cycling Federation and Vice President of UCI.
