Why Pillars are flying to Lagos for Katsina United – Babangida [caption id="attachment_5206" align="alignnone" width="300"] Kano Pillars ready for action[/caption] The Chairman of Kano Pillars football club, Alhaji Tukur Babangida has said the government of Kano State is flying the team to Lagos because of the importance it has attached to the team’s aspiration. Arrangements have been concluded for Kano Pillars to travel by air this morning to Lagos where they are billed to battle neighbours Katsina United in the semi-final of this year’s Aiteo Cup. After their quarter-final win over Enyimba at the Pantami stadium in Gombe, Pillars returned by road to Kano where they are to leave this morning by air to Lagos. Babangida said considering the distance by road from Kano to Lagos and the effect it would have on the players, the government of Kano State opted for the team to travel by air. He explained in a telephone interview with Daily Trust yesterday that the government is not holding back anything in supporting Pillars to pick the remaining continental ticket. Babangida said with the support from government, the players are highly motivated to face their semi-final opponents. “Yes, I can confirm to you that the team will travel to Lagos by air. By the grace of God, we shall leave tomorrow morning (today) for the players to have enough rest before our match on Wednesday. “You see the distance to Lagos is much so we pleaded with government to come to our aid and our request was graciously approved. “Our aspiration to win the Aiteo Cup which will also give us the last continental ticket is a thing of priority to our government,” he said. Babangida therefore urged Pillars to beat Katsina United to qualify for the final slated for October 14 at the Late Stephen Keshi stadium Asaba.
