Wilfred Ndidi Is Progressing Really, Really Well; Leicester’s Coach Reveals

Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has received a ray of hope for his return to action in the coming week, as The Foxes’ coach, Brendan Rodgers disclosed that the Super Eagles’ lad ‘is progressing really, really well’ in his recovery from a recent injury. BSNSports.com.ng gathered that, following almost two months out on the sidelines, a silver lining has appeared on the horizon for Ndidi, as Rodgers says the former Racing Genk of Belgium central-defender-turned-holding-midfielder is in contention for action in the UEFA Europa League next week. Leicester’s qualification for the knockout rounds of the Europa League is on the horizon, after winning their opening three matches in Group G, and their aspirations have now received a boost with the expected return of Ndidi, who totaled six appearances in the same competition while with Genk during the 2016/17 season. Should his side now get victory away to Sporting Braga of Portugal at Estádio Municipal this Thursday, they would be in the hat for the last 32 draw on December 18, with Ndidi expected to play a key part alongside his compatriot, Kelechi Iheanacho, who is currently the top assist provider in this season’s contest with three. While ‘Kelele’ appears certain to add to his appearances this Thursday and likely continue his remarkable scoring form so far this season in the competition, Rodgers revealed that Ndidi is making good progress in his recovery from an adductor injury and will be assessed before the trip to Zorya Luhansk of Ukraine next time out. Rodgers, who ensured that Ndidi was registered for the Europa League, though he was on the sidelines when the list was submitted in October, disclosed: “Wilf is progressing really, really well so we’ll see the possibility of him when we play in the Ukraine, so that’ll be great news.”
