Wilfred Ndidi’s Resurgence, Team Contributions Excite James Maddison

Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has received a fresh shower of accolades from one of his teammates, James Maddison, who admits he is happy seeing the Nigerian star back in action after a bout with injury and still contributing his best to the team. With Ndidi back in The Foxes’ stating line-up for their last two matches in the English Premier League, Maddison admits it is enchanting having the Super Eagles’ star back in the frame, especially after his come backing colleague provided a neat assist at the weekend. BSNSports.com.ng reports that Ndidi has been playing a significant role for Leicester City since he teamed up with the club from Belgian side Genk in 2017, and the velvety midfielder has featured in more than 130 games and helped the Foxes qualify for the Europa League last season. Although Ndidi has made only seven appearances across all competitions for the King Power Stadium outfit in the current campaign due to injury problems, he will be expected to play a part when they face Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday in the English Premier League. That is because Ndidi is ticking one again, after surviving a nasty injury that required surgery back in September, and he proved his mettle when he helped The Foxes secure a 3-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion, following which he earned praises from Maddison. While hailing his teammate’s contribution in last Sunday’s victory and another sterling outing on Wednesday, Maddison expressed delight with Ndidi’s return from a groin injury that kept him away from action for more than four weeks. The former Nath Boys of Lagos and Racing Genk of Belgium midfielder won the ball to help Maddison score his second goal in the game, while also executing two successful tackles and had 94 per cent successful pass rate to ensure his side kept a clean sheet. The 23-year-old Ndidi is back showing vast improvements since his arrival from Genk at King Power Stadium in 2017 and, having featured in more than 130 games across all competitions since he arrived, Madison says his colleague has come of age. Maddison said: “Wilfred Ndidi, really good to have him back, I feel safe when I’m in there with Wilf behind me. It’s almost like he’s two players, and what Wilf’s improved on a lot, especially since I joined the Club, is his passing ability. “Improved a lot and wins the ball back, and I remember, his first pass being forward to me, along-the-floor, hard pass and that’s something that he’s really improved on. “And then we built [on that in] the game. Vards (Jamie Vardy) made a run in behind, came back to me and I remember being one vs. one. [I] shifted it on my right, got it back on my left, and I’m comfortable off my left. “I feel just as confident shooting [with] my left as I do with my right, and it was one of them: I knew it was in straight away, so [I’m] really happy.”
