Winter Olympics star distributes Covid-19 Palliatives in Ibadan By Editor As economic hardship caused by the outbreak of Covid-19 rages on, a group of Nigerian athletes in diaspora have started to give back to their society. The Nigerian athletes led by a Winter Olympian Seun Adigun polled resources together and reached out to their compatriots at home. Seun Adigun and other philanthropists carried out their humanitarian service under the project tagged “Dr. Seun CARES” . The project, launched in July, 2020 in Lagos State took off with distribution of relief materials to 240 families in Nigeria's commercial capital. Saturday the 5th of December was the turn of residents in Ibadan to receive packs of essential commodities as Covid-19 Palliatives. Seun Adigun revealed that about 100 families will receive 'non-perishable' food items in Ibadan. “Our main objective is to provide foodstuff in 10 selected states drawn from the 6 geopolitical zones of Nigeria, with a target of 100 families per state. We are also creating job opportunities by designating within each state a Regional Leader who will purchase commodities from the local markets," Adigun said. The “Dr. Seun CARES” initiative, founded by Dr Seun Adigun, the 2018 Winter Olympian, is targeted at helping those in need as well as bring awareness to important health and social issues around the world. Adigun is the first and only Nigerian in history to represent the country both at the Summer and Winter Olympics. She competed in the 100mH at 2012 London Olympics. She also gained national fame in 2018 when he pioneered and lead Nigeria's Bobsled team to its first ever Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, North Korea. With the continuation of the benevolent activities of her pet project, Seun Adigun has joined the crop of athletes who give back to the society that produced them.
