By Niyi Busari The Nigeria six-aside national team, the Jaguars have secured their ticket to the 2019 World Minifootball Federation after came fifth at the ongoing 2018 African Minifootball Cup in Libya, bsn reports. The Jaguars defeated South Africa 9-1 in their first game, lost 3-1 to Tunisia and pulled a 2-2 draw against the best third team in the world Senegal. On Saturday, Senegal and CotedIvoire will play in the final match to decide the eventual winner of the competition. Nigeria as well as Senegal, Ivory Coast, Tunisia and the host Libya have all qualified for the World Minifootball World Cup next year. Speaking after the qualification for the world cup, the president of Minifootball Assosciation of Nigeria (MAN) Mr Andy Elerewe said: "I have never felt so proud to be a Nigerian like i did today...Still at the on going Libya 2018 Minifootbal nations cup, Team Nigeria, with a half squad, fought like Jaguars, gave their all in a high tempo, tension soaked game, against a team that is highly experienced, well motivated and government sponsored. "Just narrowly, 2 minutes to the end of the game, Team Senegal, who were third finalist in the last WMF world cup, with a full squad and an intimidating crowd of supporters, miraculously equalized to hold Nigeria to a 2, 2 draw to proceed to the semifinal. The debutant Nigerian team, though didnt qualify for semifinal, but with four others (Libya, Tunisia, Ivory coast & Senegal) made it through to the next WMF world cup in 2019. #Congrats to Nigeria!" The World Minifootball Federation (WMF) is the highest authority of 6 aside football association. With the world cup scheduled to hold every two years, the WMF began hosting the continental cup with top 5 nations of each federation.
