World Cup Qualifier: Akinbinu Samuel's Djibouti Suffers Heavy Defeat Against Algeria Omolagba Oluwayemi Nigeria born Akinbinu Samuel suffered a heavy defeat with his adopted national team, Djibouti in a world cup qualifier against Algeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Samuel who opted to play for the Djibouti national team played only for 29 minutes before being sacrificed for Batio Youssouf who got red carded in the 22nd minute. It was really a messy day for Djibouti who faced Algeria for the first time in their history on the night as they were hammered 8-0. Islam Slimani opened the scoring in the 15th minute before Djibouti were reduced to ten-man. He added the second in 25th minute from the penalty spot before Ramy Bensebaini and Baghdad Bounedjah made it 4-0 before the break. Also Read: Why Awoniyi Was Not Invited – Rohr Slimani scored two more after the break while Riyad Mahrez and Ramiz Zerrouki completed the rout as Algeria matched the African World Cup-winning margin record for a qualifier set by the Democratic Republic of Congo and equalled by Libya. The Congolese trounced same Djibouti 9-1 in Kinshasa in 2002 qualifying and Libya overwhelmed Sao Tome e Principe 8-0 in Tripoli in an eliminator for the following tournament. In the other game played in group A, Burkina Faso defeated Niger 2-0. Djibouti will hope to bounce back from the heavy defeat when they host Niger on Monday while Algeria and Burkina Faso goes head-to-head on Tuesday in the top of the table clash.
