World Cup round-up: Ronaldo's on hat-trick as Portugal humiliate Luxembourg, Switzerland run riot

Portugal thrashed Luxembourg 5-0 on Tuesday evening in a World Cup Qualifier match staged at Estadio Algarve. 

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in the eighth minute from the spot before making it 2-0 in the 13th minute from yet again another penalty. Bruno Fernandes made tit 3-0 after five minutes giving Portugal a breathing space. 

In the second half, João Palhinha scored the fourth goal for Portugal before Ronaldo completed his hat-trick three minutes to stoppage. 

In the other match of group A, Serbia defeated Azerbaijan 3-1 to go to the top of the group. 

Group B

In Group B, Georgia registered a 2-1 victory struggling Kosovo with Zuriko Davitashvili netting the winner in 82nd. 

Elsewhere, Sweden beat ten-man Greece to open a three-point lead on top of the group with 15.
