Kano Pillars Technical Adviser, Ibrahim Musa has expressed satisfaction with the performance of his star player, Junior Lokosa for the Super Eagles.
The Nigeria Professional League’s leading goal scorer put up scintillating performance in his debut appearance for the senior national team against Congo DR on Monday in Port-Harcourt.
The fans at the fully packed Adokie Amiesimaka applauded him off the pitch when he was eventually substituted late in the match which ended in a 1-1 draw.
In a chat with Daily Trust, Coach Musa said he was not surprised that Lokosa showed so much confidence on the ball as he explained that the player is among the most talented in the domestic league.
He said had the player failed to live up to the expectations of Nigerians, it would have been a rude shock to him.
“I am highly impressed with the performance of Lokosa against Congo. It is a thing of joy because he justified the confidence reposed in him by the coaches and Nigerians who clamoured for his invitation to the team.
“I knew he would do very well because he is among the best players in the NPFL. If he were not good, I don’t think he would have scored 18 league goals in the ongoing season.
“He made the best use of the opportunity and I am really happy for him,” he said.
Musa also said the experience gained in the camp of the Super Eagles will impact positively on his player.
According to him, it is hard for a player to attend national camp, work under highly experienced coaches and come back the same.
“The experience he has so far gained in the national team will show in his future performances. I know he is now a better player,” he assured.
