Nigeria Para powerlifter Bose Omolayo today broke the World Record in women’s up to 79kg at the World Championships, lifting a staggering WR of 144kg to claim Nigeria’s 2nd GOLD medal in Tbilisi, Gorgia, BSNSports.com.ng gathered.
Omolayo took the lead with her 1st lift of 135kg, but after Vera Muratova went into the lead, the Nigerian responded with yet another impressive lift of 139kg, then confirmed victory with 142kg on her 3rd attempt. She then surpassed the WR of 143kg in dominant fashion.
Meanwhile in the women’s up to 73kg, Khalifa Almaruf got on the podium for Nigeria, clinching Bronze with her attempt of 138kg. At the moment.
Nigeria has a total of five medals at Powerlifting World Championships after Lucy Ejike and Oyinyechi Mark won Gold and Silver yesterday.
