Kano wins National U18 soccer boys tournament

Kano State have emerged champions of the National U18 boys soccer tournament organized by Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON).
The tournament which climaxed this evening Saturday 1st September, 2018 at the Kaduna township stadium saw the boys from the Pyramid City won the 1st edition of the tournament 4-2 on penalties after a barren draw at regulation time.
An excited coach of Kano described the victory as well deserved and praised the opponent for giving his charges a very good fight.
" I'm very excited for this victory. My boys played to instructions and that's why we won.
" Our opponent from Kwara made things difficult for us because they are also a very good side", concludes coach Moses Obioma.
In the third place match played earlier, Sokoto state defeated the boys from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT ) 12-11 on penalties after regulation time finished 2-2.
Eleven States participated in the six day tournament and a total number of fourty-one goals were recorded.
Coach Moses Obioma of Kano was the tournament's best coach while Owolabi Aremu of Kwara emerged the highest goal scorer with nine (9) goals.
Other individual awards are, Mawiz Mohammed of Kano as best Goalkeeper, Abdulrazak Abdulkadir of Kwara as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) .
The last round of the individual awards of the colourful final went the way of Kwara as the tournament's Best Behaved Team.
