  Zone 3 CAVB Club Championships: Army, Customs, Police wins opener By Our Reporter Nigeria Army, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Police and Ghana Police teams served off their campaign at the 2019 Zone 3 Africa Volleyball Club Championships on a winning note by thrashing their opponents 3-0 at the Sports Hall of the University of Lagos on Monday. Nigeria Army defeated Police 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-21) in an impressive match which was won from the bench by coach Elishama Elam in the women’s event while Nigeria Customs Service proved too much for the Immigration as they dominate all the three sets winning (25-11, 25-18, 25-20) in the men’s match despite Immigrations beefing their squad ahead of the Zone three. Nigeria Police defeated Entente of Benin 3-0 (25-17, 25- 17, 25-19), while Ghana Police beat OTR of Togo 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-23). In the women’s event, Nigeria Customs Service defeated Kada Emeralds 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-13) in a one sided game as Kada Emeralds won her second game against AS OTR of Togo. Speaking after the victory, assistant coach of the Nigeria Customs Service Kafas Eric said his team capitalized on the weakness of their opponents. “It is really great to start with a win and I believe we will continue the way by the grace of God. “It was not an easy game, these are the players we’ve known. We knew their strength, we knew their weaknesses. So we capitalized on their their weaknesses and work more on their strengths to defeat them. The boys also played according to the instructions of the coaches too.” Meanwhile, the head coach of Ghana Police male team, Elisha Ayiku said his team is in Nigeria to defend their title won last year.
