Cologne manager, Markus Gisdol is banking seriously on Emmanuel Dennis in the club’s bid to escape going into relegation from the Bundesliga at the end of the 2020/21 season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Dennis on Wednesday opened his goal account for his new club, Cologne where he is currently on loan from Club Brugge of Belgium after finding the net against Jahn Regensburg.
He only joined the German Bundesliga outfit last week but put Cologne two goals up in the 22nd minute of Wednesday’s DFB Cup fixture courtesy of an assist from Ismail Jakobs.
The Billy Goats are 14th on the league table with 18 points from 19 matches, one point adrift of the drop zone ahead of their game with Borussia Moenchengladbach on Saturday.
Cologne boss, Gisdol is relying heavily on Dennis, saying at his pre-match press conference for the Gladbach contest on Thursday: “Emmanuel Dennis is someone who gives hope.
“He can go one-on-one, he goes at goal with speed. I am very much glad that he is right here with us. However, he will not shoulder the entire attack alone,” Gisdol stated.
