Efe Ambrose’s Derby County Move Close To EPL

Derby County FC defeated Leeds United 4-2 on Wednesday in the English Championship playoff to move closer to picking a ticket for the 2019/2020 English Premier League.

Super Eagles defender, Efe Ambrose who was left out of the Derby County squad that travel to Elland Road was happy to see his team edging closer to playing in the English Premier League next season. Though, it is not clear whether the utility, goalscoring defender will renew his contract with the EPL bound club.

Meanwhile, Nigerian born Derby County defender, Fikayo Tomori was on for full duration for Derby County but was cautioned in the 5th minute having committed a foul at the edge of the 18 yard box.

Leeds United opened the scoring in the 24th minute as Stuart Dallas put them ahead with a cool finish.

Jack Mariot restored Frank Lampard tutored team few seconds to the break. The first half ended 1-1 as both sides headed to the dug out.

On resuming the second half, Mason Mount shattered hopes of Leeds United fans when his sublime finish put Derby County in lead, one minute after resumption.

Harry Wilson increased the lead for Derby in the 58th minute before Stuart Dallas completed his brace, hence brought the scoreline to 3-2.

Jack Marriot was again on song in the 85th minute as he ended Leeds United’s hope of 2019/20 EPL season.

It ended 4-3 aggregate as Derby County lost the first leg 0-1.

Derby County will have to suspend their jubilation until they pick the ticket at Wembley stadium.
