U23 AFCON Q: Nigeria In Tunisia For Maximum Points – Azubuike

Nigeria’s U-23 national team midfielder Azubuike Okechukwu has assured football loving Nigerians that the Dream Team will not bow to Libya U23 National Team in their two-legged of U23 African Nations Cup qualifiers, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Azubuike who arrived Tunisia on Monday evening is confident of the team qualification at the expense of Libya U23 national team insisted that the two days training the invited European based players will have with the team will not affect their performance.

He added that most of the players invited based on their present explosive form which will help the team in their U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against Libya slated for Tunisia on Wednesday.

The former Captain of the U-23 national team also expressed appreciation to the team’s Chief Coach Imama Amapakabo for extending an invitation to him. He was happy to be among the best players included in the team that would square up against Libya in Tunisia.

He also assured football lovers in Nigeria to have belief in the team despite the fact that the invited Europe based players would have just two days to train together with the rest of the players before the match is played.

“Firstly my appreciation goes to Coach Imama Amapakabo for extending an invitation to me in the first place. I am happy to be among the privileged few to get this call-up. I have vowed to make the maximum use of the opportunity it provides.
“Nigerians should expect the best from us as a team and the best is to win the game so as to be sure of a better performance in the return leg at home in Nigeria.

“Concerning few days that we have to train before playing the match, I don’t think that will affect our performance negatively. We are Nigerians and professionals, we can cope with the limited time that we have together”, the Rizespor star disclosed to bsnsports.com.ng from Turkey on Sunday.
Azubuike who got 7.1 points rating which made him the third-best players for his side in the match was happy with his club’s performance away to Konyaspor on Saturday where Rizespor spanked the home team 2-0.

“We played better and were stronger mentally. It was also a solid performance from me, thanks to God Almighty.
“I am happy to put in another 90 minutes all round action away from home against a tough team Konyaspor. I am also excited that we won 2-0 and we are gradually moving up on the league table”, Azubuike concluded.
